Foley High School students Brylee Watson and Janie Morgan use a clinometer which is a tool used to measure angles of elevation. They were able to use the angles they found, along with properties of right triangles, to indirectly find the height of the track field lights, flag poles, the peak of the school, and the school’s indoor facility.
Students in Ashley Lathan's Algebraic Connections classes built their clinometers with protractors, straws, washers, and string. This project was an assessment following a unit on right triangles.
