DAPHNE, Ala.—Jeffery Scott Craig, 28, is in the Baldwin County Corrections Center on $25,000 bond for first-degree robbery of an Emergi-Cash branch, according to county jail records.
Craig—wearing a hat, wig and costume beard—on Wednesday entered the business on U.S. Highway 98 and demanded money from the store while carrying a toy revolver gun, according to Daphne police Lt. Jud Beedy. A store employee called 911 and Craig fled the building, running behind Myers Market while police gave chase, according to Beedy.
Police surrounded the wooded area and Craig was arrested without incident while attempting to exit the woods, Beedy said, adding that Craig confessed to the robbery.
"Craig did not get anything during the robbery," Beedy said. " Yes, he saw the employee make a phone call and we assume that he knew that it was the 911 call; at that point he fled the (building).
"The robbery code states that if you attempt to or rob someone that it is a robbery under Alabama Code. He did show that employee the toy gun during the robbery."
