ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — The Treasures of the Isle Mardi Gras Krewe recently made a donation to the Orange Beach Professional Firefighters for their Cancer Awareness Campaign, the pink fire truck "Cindy", named in memory of the wife of fireman Dray
Resmondo, Cindy Resmondo, who died of cancer Sept. 2010.
You might have seen the "pink" fire truck around and not have known what a great cause these firemen have embraced. The fire truck has more than 4,500 signatures of cancer survivors, women in treatment and in honor or memory of loved ones affected by cancer.
On off days, these Firefighters volunteer their time to support all women victimized by cancer. In September and October the truck traveled more than 6,000 miles to raise awareness and money for this cause in Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.
All the money raised through donations, T-shirts sales and appearances, pays the maintenance and operation of the "Cindy" and helps women in need who don't have the means to pay for treatment. They recently paid for the chemo for a lady who was not going to have the treatment because she didn't have the money.
One of the ways these guys show their support is driving "Cindy" to a cancer patients home with a gift of roses, just to let the person know they are loved, prayed for and the someone cares.
