The Gulf Shores Senior Center has much activity planned for this month.

All such activities are at the Harry Roberts Community House, 300 E. 16th Ave., unless otherwise noted.

Walk Away the Pounds video exercise is at 8 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There are one-mile, two-mile and combined three-mile walks. Bring a stretchy (elastic) band and walking shoes. Free.

Free blood pressure check, courtesy of Covenant Hospice, the first Monday of each month (second Monday if holiday) at 9 a.m.

Duplicate Bridge is played on Monday and Thursday afternoons 12:30-4, and Tuesday evening at 6:30, January through March.

Mexican Train Dominos is played at 9:30 a.m.-noon on Tuesdays.

Beginners computer course is offered at the Gulf Shores Library, free of charge to area seniors. The two-week course is from 8:30-10 a.m. on Wednesdays. There is no fee, but you must be registered. Call 968-1434 to sign up.

Birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated on the first Wednesday of the month at 2. Whether you’re celebrating or just like to party, come join the fun, compliments of Liveoak Village.

Scrabble is played on Thursdays from 9-11:30 a.m. Keep your mind young while having fun.

Merry Mixers Square & Round Dance meets on Thursday evenings (except first Thursdday) from 7-9 p.m., beginning tomorrow (Jan. 10).

The Wisconsin Sheepshead Club plays on Friday afternoons from 12:30-4 p.m., beginning Jan. 25 and running through March 28.

Euchre Senior Card Club plays on Tuesdays from 1-4 p.m.

The Four Winds Barbershop Chorus practices on Friday at 10 a.m. For more information call 968-1434.

Ballroom Dance lessons are Monday evenings from 6-7. Classes are on-going, but you may start at any time. Call for more information or to sign up at 968-1434. Lynn Stallworth is the instructor, and cost is $2 per session. No partner required. No lessons on Monday Jan. 21.

Are you a budding artist? Would you like to work on your own art projects while sharing your talents or learning from each other? If this sounds interesting, bring your ideas, projects and paint supplies (no oils please) to our Open Art Workshop. It will be from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesdays. Can’t figure out that new camera Santa brought? A beginners photography course is offered at the Gulf Shores Library from 4-6 p.m. on Jan. 10, 15 and 17. Bring your digital and/or 35mm camera to class. Cost for course is $35, and class size is limited. Call today to sign up at 968-1434.
