"3">Margie Mallory Gilbert, 89, a former

resident of Robertsdale and resident of Westminster Village, passed

away on Sept. 22, 2011. Mrs. Gilbert was born on Feb. 13, 1922 in

Alexander City, Ala. to Mary and Lonnie Mallory as the youngest of

seven children.

"3">She attended Auburn University, where she

met and married her late husband, Grady “Jimmy” Gilbert. They were

married for 67 years.

"3">They lived in Talladega, Ala. during WWII,

where they worked in support of the war effort. Mr. and Mrs.

Gilbert moved to Robertsdale in 1946.

"3">She was an avid gardener, who found daily

joy in tending to the spoils of her gardens, a member and past

president of the Robertsdale Garden Club and supporter of the

Robertsdale Library.

"3">She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal

Church, Episcopal Church Women and the Alter Guild - often

arranging flowers for Sunday services.

"3">She was named Central Baldwin County Woman

of the Year in 2002, celebrating her generosity and graciousness in

supporting her community.

"3">She and Jimmy moved to Westminster Village

in Spanish in 2007, where they joined and developed new friends

over these past four years.

"3">Mrs. Gilbert, known as “Nan” to her

family, is preceded in death by her husband, Grady Purcell Gilbert

and her great-granddaughter, Mallory Esme

Harris.

"3">She is survived by daughters Ellen

(Joseph) Williams, Metairie, La. and Rebecca (David) Drennen,

Mongtomery, Ala.; four grandchildren, Natalia Williams Harris,

Elizabeth Williams, Patrick Drennen and Phillip Drennen; and five

great-grandchildren, Dylan, Todd, Grady Joseph, Ayden and

Grant.

"3">A memorial service will be held Tuesday,

Sept. 27, 2011, at 11 a.m., at St. John’s Episcopal Church,

Robertsdale, with the Rev. Norman Bray and the Rev. George Gilbert

officiating.

"3">The family will receive friends at the

church beginning at 10 a.m., prior to the

service.

"3">In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made

to St. John’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1137, Robertsdale,

AL.
