Marie Butgereit Higginbotham, born in Fairhope on Sept. 25, 1929, passed away Oct. 21, 2014.
Marie was the owner of the King Kole restaurant and lounge for 43 years. She retired in 2006.
Marie was preceded in death by her son, David Stewart Higginbotham.
She is survived by her sons, Larry (Vickie) Wilkinson of Daphne, Dean Higginbotham of Point Clear and Darwin Higginbotham of Point Clear; her daughter, Susie Higginbotham Blackard of Daphne; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her brother, Glenn (Myrna) Butgereit of Texas.
She is greatly missed. A special thank you to her caregiver, Martha Dyess. Ms. Martha has been a blessing to our family. We could not have asked for anyone who took better care of our Mother; she loved her as her own family.
The family will receive friends at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, from 5 until 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at 2 p.m., at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
