Marion Thornton, Sept. 8,1925-Jan.23, 2016.
On Jan. 23, 2016, at 90 years of age, one of the great loves of our lives passed away. Marion Thornton, our dad, is survived by his wife, Laverne; daughters, Susie, Lisa and Tracy; son, Randy; four grandchildren, Shana, Kelly, Lucas and Shane; two great-grandchildren, Michael Dacoda and Te’a; and his siblings, Bo, Mary Dell and Gloria.
Dad is reunited in heaven with his beloved son, Tony; his parents, Herman and Lizzie; and his siblings, Mack, Elouise, JB and Donnie.
Dad not only loved his wife, children and grandchildren deeply, he also loved his in-law family too. Sons-in-law Buck and Max; daughter-in-law Melanie; grandchildren-in-law or almost in-laws Michael, Nick and Rebecca.
Our dad was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He served two terms during World War II.
After a 30-plus year career as a millwright at Scott Paper, dad retired to enjoy hunting, fishing and time with his family.
Our family would like to thank Georgia Church for her help and dedication in caring for our dad and mom during this extremely difficult time, to Julie Gosnell for her time and dedication, to the staff at Oakwood Nursing, especially Jennifer Stewart for all of their help.
Arrangements are being handled by Cason Funeral Service. As dad requested, after cremation, our family will hold a private memorial service.
Please post comments for our family at www.casonfuneralservice.com. All thoughts and prayers for dad and our family are greatly appreciated.
