Marjorie McCullough, 74, of Summerdale, died on Jan. 26, 2018 while kayaking near the Peruvian village of Caballococha on the Amazon River. She was attacked by numerous anaconda and boa constrictor snakes. Marjorie had been kayaking the Amazon for several months. The circumstances surrounding her death are truly unbelievable.
Born Aug. 22, 1943 in Oxted, England, she was predeceased by her parents, Brig. Gen. Lloyd and Mrs. Elizabeth Kenyon of Sidney, British Columbia; and her late husband of 37 years, Eric McCullough of Summerdale.
Marjorie was a condo rental manager for Brett/Robinson in Gulf Shores for 16-plus years, a part time mail carrier in Summerdale and an Air B&B host.
She loved kayaking, painting, gardening, yard sales, outlandish obituaries, Mardi Gras, Fish River, Alabama Crimson Tide Football, her family and friends.
She packed a lot of life into her 74 years and she touched so many lives. She will be sorely missed.
Marjorie is survived by her sister, Jane Burton of Squamish, British Columbia; sons, Allen of Fairfax, Virginia, Brian of Mobile, Alabama and Daryn of Cinnaminson, New Jersey; grandchildren Chase, Carson, Ainsley and Liam McCullough.
