Marjorie Weatherly Cabaniss Anderson Bridges, 96, born Aug. 13, 1914, died peacefully May 24, 2011 in Milton, Fla., where she lived after retiring from the U.S. Government as a computer programer in San Antonio, Texas.

She was born in Birmingham and made her debut in society, learned how to pilot an airplane, attended Birmingham Southern College and graduated from Auburn University.

She married first to James R. Anderson in Birmingham and later to Fayette H. Bridges in Fairhope.

Her memory lives on in her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Harman Cabaniss Jr. and Marjorie Weatherly; and two brothers, George A. Cabaniss and James Weatherly Cabaniss.

Survivors include five children, James R. (Carole) Anderson, Katherine Currin Anderson, Fay H. Bridges, Virginia “Jinx” Bridges and Doris Bridges (Paul D.) Ryan; brother, Edward H. Cabaniss III; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her.

An open house celebration will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at 120 Volanta Ave., Fairhope.
