Today, libraries across the country will celebrate the first-ever National Bookmobile Day, a time to remind the public about the integral and vital services bookmobiles provide to America’s community. For over 100 years and counting, America’s bookmobiles have provided access to information and technology and supplied resources for life-long learning to all Americans, no matter where they live – rural areas, cities, or suburbs.
A part of National Library Week, the first-ever National Bookmobile Day will recognize the important contributions of today’s bookmobiles as modern, changing and dynamic mobile information centers for the 21st century that bring the world to their communities.
What makes our bookmobile service unique is that it provides our community with mobile access to trained professionals — librarians — to help people find and interpret the information they need to make a difference in their lives. As a vital extension of our libraries, bookmobiles help keep us connected, providing a space for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together.
Thanks to the generosity of Rep. Joe Faust and Sen. Trip Pittman, the Baldwin County Bookmobile has a new, updated design. The public is invited to tour the new bus today from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Baldwin County Library Cooperative.
Come join the Baldwin County Library Cooperative as we celebrate our mobile outreach on National Bookmobile Day.
