Marrion Johnson Sr., 83, a native of Plateau in Mobile and a resident of Daphne, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 at his home.

He was an active member of Little Bethel Baptist Church and was employed by Wm. Meadows, a food distribution company and retired after 40 years where he worked as a forklift operator in the warehouse.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ruby Pearl Johnson; two daughters, Lucille Johnson and Patricia J. Spanks; and mother, Ida Mae Shaffer.

Survivors include four daughters, Ida Maxine (James) McCants of Fairhope, Sarah Jane Johnson of Daphne, Darlene (Roy) Pryear of Fairhope and Inez Marie Young of Mobile; two sons, Marion E. (Renee) Johnson Jr. of Atlanta and Martin (Jacalyn) Johnson of Mobile; sister, Zetta Mae Magee of Daphne; brother-in-law, Robert (Vernice) Kirksey; four brothers, Floyd Craig, Miles Craig, Alfonso Craig, all of Mobile, and Henry Craig of Chicago; six grandchildren, Erica Johnson, Douglas Lott III, Cindy Spanks, Ashley McCants, Kimberly McCants, Chynna Pryear, Charles Johnson and Senior Douglas; a host of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; friends, Johnny Ephraim, Juanita Packer, Mary C. Nero, Queenie Atkison, George Lowes; and many others.

Visitation begins at 10 a.m. with funeral services at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 16 at Little Bethel Baptist Churchwith the Rev. Donald Parker officiating and music by Mary Nero. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
