Mary Bernice Fuqua, age 92, longtime resident of Gulf Shores, passed away Feb. 8, 2016.
She retired from Baldwin Mutual Insurance as an office clerk. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores. She served as the church’s organist/pianist for 38 years and served as a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Damon Lester Fuqua; two children, Robert Lester Fuqua and Retha Sims; and five brothers.
She is survived by her son, Don (Connie) Fuqua of Elberta, Ala.; granddaughters, Dana Fuqua of California, Heather (Ethan) Glynn of Seattle, Wash. and Laura (E. J.) Burris of Port Aransas, Texas; grandsons, Dean (Kristi) Seely of Cleveland, Miss., Robert Sapp of Foley, Ala. and George Kilgore of Mobile, Ala.; and numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. from First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores.
Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow directly at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial be made to First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores Music Department.
