Mary Elizabeth Hammond, 92, a resident of Fairhope, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014.
Mary was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 199 and V.F.W. Post 5660 Auxiliary, and Emblem Club. She was a longtime volunteer at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope and HCMC in Hillsdale, Mich.
She celebrated her faith by attending First Baptist Church Fairhope and singing in the Golden Tones Senior Choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Owen E. Hammond; and two sons, William D. Jordan and Curtis C. Jordan.
She is survived by her son, Allan L. (Beth) Hammond of Macon, Ga.; a daughter, Nora J. (Kevin) Lawrence of Jonesville, Mich.; a granddaughter, Kathryn N. (Jason) Stych of Hillsdale, Mich.; two grandsons, Andrew E. (Leilani) Lawrence and Tyler K. Lawrence, both of Jonesville, Mich.; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Dyer of Fairhope.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at 10 a.m.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
