Mature leaders needed for Fairhope

President Harry Truman said, “In periods where there is no leadership, society stands still.”

World War II Gen. George Patton had earlier declared, “Lead me, follow me, or get out of the way.”

At a recent work session, a Fairhope City Councilman put it this way, “It’s time to stop pussy-footing around and bite the bullet.”

It’s not the actual tax/utility increases and/or spending/service cuts the people of Fairhope need most at this particular moment in time. It’s the mature leadership to make those hard (unpopular?) decisions.

Demagoguery and waffling to score political points won’t do any more; that only insures our problems will fester and grow.
