May Day Parade is Saturday

This weekend is expected to be jammed packed with activities.

There will be the annual May Day activities in Douglasville at Ulmer Park. This will get kicked off at 10 a.m. Saturday with a parade starting on Dobson Avenue to Ulmer Park, located on Shedrick Hardy Blvd.

You can expect to enjoy lots of fun, food and entertainment. There will be fun for the entire family.

So check out the May Day at Ulmer Park this Saturday.

Saturday will also be the annual Relay for Life for Bay Minette.

This year it will take place downtown Bay Minette on the Courthouse Square. Things will get started at noon and go to midnight. There will be lots of activities for everyone to get involved with to support the Cancer Society.

If you are not able to attend donations will still be accepted and appreciated.

Saturday will also be the day graduation is held at UAB, that’s The University of Alabama in Birmingham.

Yes, that’s this Saturday, too, and my niece, Holly White will be graduating.

Congratulations Holly. I love you and pray that you will know how blessed you are.

My supervisor’s daughter is also graduating from UAB on Saturday. Her name is Tempest Woodward. Congratulations goes to Tempest, too.

You all made great choices by beating the odds and staying in school when so many others were giving up.

Great job ladies.

Saturday, Phyllis French will also be graduating with another degree, which is awesome. Phyllis is a real go-getter and believes in always wanting to know more.

My, My, you can see that when I said this weekend is jammed-packed, I was not joking.

High school graduation is just around the corner and best wishes goes to all the high school seniors. Whatever road you decide to take, I pray God’s blessing upon each of you.

Congratulations to Wallace Gilberry who was selected as a free agent by the New York Giants. Hang in there Wallace we are proud of you and will always be praying for you.

The Senior Choir at Union Baptist Church held their 72nd year anniversary last Sunday, April 27. The Rev. P.M. Waller was the speaker and did a wonderful job. The program was filled with the Spirit and they just had a good time in the Lord and so did I.

Serving as Mistress of Order was Shirley Heard of Foley. Jimmie Lou Moorer is president and the Rev. Dwight Boykin is pastor.
