DAPHNE, Ala. — For the first weekend since February, Daphne residents will be able to enjoy May Day Park.
The park, which has been closed for three months, reopened today. This followed the completion of a $700,000 project to replace old pipes running under the park and resurface the parking lot.
The next phase of the project will be the construction of a new 140-foot boat ramp, which will allow larger boats to be launched from the park. It replaces a shorter ramp that only reached shallow water. By extending the ramp farther into Mobile Bay, there should be at least 2 feet of water at the end of the ramp even at low tide.
