FAIRHOPE, Ala. — On Thursday, the Downtown Fairhope Business Assocation hosted a mayoral candidate forum at the Eastern Shore Art Center. Between 250 and 300 people turned out for the two-hour event, with an overflow crowd standing in the lobby.
City Council candidates also circulated among the audience before and after the event, handing out literature and taking questions.
Another candidate forum, which might be the last one of the election season, will be at the Rock Creek Clubhouse from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19. The event is sponsored by the Rock Creek Property Owners’ Association board of directors.
The candidate questions at that forum will address issues of concern to the residents of Rock Creek, Eastern Rock Creek and Sandy Ford, said Eric Dyas of RCPOA.
The event, which will include most mayoral and City Council candidates, will have a format of opening statements, questions and answers, and closing statements, Dyas said.
Ten days remain in the Fairhope municipal election campaign. Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 26.
