Margaret Louise Stixrud “Peggy” McCutchen was born June 3, 1919 at the mission station in Luebo, an American Presbyterian Congo Mission in the Belgian Congo.
She was the second of four children of pioneer Prebyterian Medical Missionaries, Dr. Thomas and Marietta Stixrud.
She was a graduate of Peace College, Agnes Scott College and attended St. Luke’s Nursing School in Missouri.
Hers was a full and joyful life of serving others as a minister’s wife, missionary, Presbyterian elder, teacher, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, the Rev. L. Alex McCutchen.
Survivors include two children, Thomas (Laura) McCutchen and Dee Dee (Richard) Holt; two grandchildren, Michael (Alyson) Holt and Thomas (Amanda) Holt; one great-grandchild, Alexandra Elizabeth Holt; and a sister, Helga Rose.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 10 at Stockton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bert Eyster officiating.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Medical Benevolence Foundation, Houston; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
