GULF SHORES, AL - The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber recently presented its Island Spirit Award for August 2014 to Xavess Rigsby at a special ceremony at McDonald's in Gulf Shores.

In presenting the award, Island Spirit Chairman Nora Mandoki praised Rigsby's friendliness and attention to customer service.  She read quotes from the nomination letters:

"Xavess always has a smile on her face, is super friendly and extremely customer focused. She always kicks my day off with a positive attitude," stated one of the nominators.

Another nomination said "She is a bright spot in my morning, as I go to the Gulf Shores McDonald's just to see her smiling face and her great attitude."

The Alabama Gulf Coast Area Chamber of Commerce presents The Island Spirit Award monthly, to an individual who works on the island and displays an attitude of concern, warmth, and hospitality to those they serve.

The Island Spirit Committee is looking for nominees who most often have direct contact with customers and visitors to the island. Past recipients have been waiters, waitresses, service station attendants, bank tellers, receptionists, police officers, grocery clerks, etc.

Any individual working in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fort Morgan, and Ono Island qualify. Recipients cannot benefit financially for their actions and are not usually owners or persons in high levels of management.

The Island Spirit Award includes the placement of the recipient’s name on a rotation plaque, a cash award, an article with a picture in our local newspaper, a custom made “Island Spirit” pin, and of course the appreciation of all who love this island paradise.

Additionally, through the generosity of Flowers By The Shore, our recipients receive a lovely arrangement at the award presentation. To nominate someone, visit alagulfcoastchamber.com.
