Laura Elizabeth “Liz” McGee, 80, a native of Florala and a resident of Lillian, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007.

She lived in Florala for most of her life until moving to Lillian 10 years ago. She wrote articles in the Florala News and the column was “Liz’s Notes.” She wrote her article for the past 15 years all the way up until the last week before her death. She was a very dedicated person in all she did whether it was writing, sharing memories with friends or enjoying her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kelly and Sarah Boland, her loving husband of 35 years, Fred H. McGee Jr.

Survivors include a son, Fred (Fran) McGee of Lillian; granddaughter, Christi (Dave) Freeman of Pace, Fla.; and great-granddaughter, Kailey Elizabeth Freeman of Pace, Fla.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12 at the Lillian United Methodist Church. Burial services will be held at 3 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Florala. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at Lockhart Baptist Church.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Lillian United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 508, Lillian, AL 36549 or to Covenant Hospice, 1040 Stanton Road, Suite D, Daphne, AL 36526.
