DAPHNE – The McGill-Toolen Catholic Dirty Dozen swept Baldwin County 25-12, 25-14 and Daphne 25-9, 25-27, 15-10 at DHS Tuesday. But not without a challenge from the Lady Trojans, who did not go quietly.
"We did not lay down," said Daphne coach Edoli Herrion of her team. "After that first game, they could've just quit, but they fought and I'm proud of that. When we pass the ball well, we're unstoppable and I believe it. And now that they are buying into it, they are going to upset some people. They are believing it, too. It was difficult to finish sometimes. But when we started passing balls, we started to run our offense."
Daphne defeated Baldwin County 25-12, 25-9 to start the tri-match, but Lady Tigers coach Scott Daugherty saw more bright spots in the play against McGill-Toolen. "We didn't play up to the best of our ability. Too many service errors, too many pass errors. We never got going at all against Daphne in either game one or game two. We tried to implement a new rotation and it did not work out in game one and we went back to two and we didn't hustle around enough on defense and give ourselves even an opportunity to make a play. But against McGill, we played with more effort and we picked each other up as a team and were helping each other out. We were looking to each other rather than just looking for excuses which I like."
