ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Residents all over Baldwin County celebrated Memorial Day with friends and family and also remembered the reason we celebrate … to honor those who serve and have served our country in the armed forces.

The City of Robertsdale held a Memorial Day service on Monday in Honeybee Park at 9 a.m. with several people attending. Robertsdale Mayor Charles Murphy and the Robertsdale High School Color Guard opened the ceremony with a welcome and presentation of colors.

Retired Army Colonel Henry Barnard Gass from Gulf Shores was the guest speaker and Mayor Murphy and member of the council presented Bibles to Kenneth Wayne Nichols, Donald Kral, Aubrey Grant, Sr., James William Cooper, Jr., Ronald M. Moore, Scott Gilbert.

Robertsdale Health Care residents Lester Bickel, Thomas Reese and Hoyt Weathers were also given Bibles. A Special Award of Service was given to Aaron Daniels, one of the guardians for the Honor Flights of South Alabama.
