Michael James Hoeft was born Jan. 17, 1959, in Milwaukee, Wis. He was residing in Gulf Shores when he died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012. Michael retired from the Milwaukee Fire Department where he served as a lieutenant firefighter and paramedic for 30 years. He served as an ALS/PALS instructor at the Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee. Michael actively served at Gulf Shores Church of Christ and the Southside Church of Christ, Milwaukee. Michael’s greatest blessings were his family and grandchildren. Michael also enjoyed volleyball and was an avid recumbent bike rider. He is survived by his wife of five years, Carol, whom he introduced as “Awesome Carol;” sons, Matthew (Elizabeth) Hoeft and children Seth, Xander James, and Maximus Michael, Joshua (Mandi) Hoeft and children, Joslynn, Kelsie Kendra, and Khloie, and, Nicholas (Jessicia) Hoeft, and children Nadia and Mia; a brother, Robert (Gloria) Hoeft; and father, Fredrick Hoeft. He is proceeded in death by his mother, Charlotte Hess-Hoeft; and sister, Barbara Langford. A memorial service was Saturday at Gulf Shores Church of Christ. There will be a second memorial service at Southside Church of Christ, Milwaukee, Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 9 a.m.
