Michael Lee “Mikey” DeFee Jr., age 12, born in Mobile, Ala. and a resident of the Pine Grove community of Bay Minette, Ala., died Thursday June 4, 2015.
Mikey was a seventh grade student at the Bay Minette Middle School. He loved the outdoors, and baseball was the absolute love of his life.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Vicki DeFee, Pine Grove; two brothers, Shawn Christopher (Abby) DeFee, Ponchatoula,
La., Jed DeFee, Pine Grove; one sister, Karla Rae DeFee, Pine Grove; grandparents, Paw Paw John B. and Mattie Wilson, Tensaw, Judy and James Adams, Pine Grove, Paw Paw Johnny and Roberta Jones, Pine Grove; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leland O’Neal DeFee.
The funeral service will be held Monday June 8, 2015, at 4 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Bay Minette, with Rev. Wes Bates and Rev. Otis Thames officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday June 8, 2015, from 1 p.m. until the 4 p.m. service at the First Baptist Church.
Members of his baseball team will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be players and coaches from all baseball teams.
Although the family will accept flowers, they request memorial donations be made to the Stockton First Baptist Church for Mikey’s foundation, 52700 State Hwy. 59, Stockton, AL 36579.
