The Michigan Club held its final meeting for 2011 at the Erie Meyer Center in Gulf Shores on March 3.
More than 500 members attended the meeting and the final membership count for the year was 1,034 members. The attendees enjoyed the singing of Kim Tatum who was accompanied by Lance Moore.
The Club presented donations to six South Baldwin County area organizations and charities. Ann Arensmeier presented the donations to The Lighthouse, Christian Service Center, Catholic Social Services, Gulf Shores after School Tutoring Program, the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo and the City of Gulf Shores Parks and Recreation Department.
Florence Pisarkiewicz was presented with her Life Membership card for reaching the age of 90. She was a charter member of the Club in 1995. Various committee chairs reported on past activities and several talked about events that will occur in the next few weeks. Jerry Wallace reported that the Low Country Boil, which is sponsored by all northern clubs, served 880 people in four hours and the event raised $7,200 for the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo.
Don Seeterlin was applauded for donating 21 gallons of blood during the past 50 years. Duane Davis, the Club’s 2010 President was presented with his retiring president’s plaque.
Dave and Pam Ferguson concluded the meeting by presenting more than 90 door prizes given by area businesses.
