For decades, Dennis Middleton has been giving to others.
For over 30 years, Middleton served as Scout master for Robertsdale Troop 45. He also served for 30 years as assistant minister for the First Christian Church in Robertsdale before retiring.
Middleton, a mechanic with E.L. Middleton & Son garage, has been fighting an uphill battle since being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September.
He underwent surgery in October and has been going for weekly chemotherapy treatments. But the cost of the treatments has been denied by his insurance company and with medical bills to date exceeding $100,000, Middleton’s family and friends are asking the community Middleton has served so faithfully over the years to help.
A fund for Middleton has been set up and donations can be made at any Regions Bank location.
There will also be a fundraising event this weekend at the Robertsdale Fire Station.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include barbecue dinners costing $6 per plate, a silent auction and bake sale.
If you would like more information about the benefit or how to donate, call Sabrina Middleton at 747-1272 or Beverly Middleton at 747-1012.
