Miranda Lambert rocks Orange Beach

Posted

Playing to a packed house Saturday night, Miranda Lambert showed fans at the Amphitheater at The Wharf in Orange Beach that her evolving talent knows no bounds.

Her pure lyrical voice belted out her latest string of hits, clearly showing why this young woman won the 2010 Country Music Association’s female vocalist of the year award. A ticket to Lambert’s “Revolution Continues” tour with guest Gary Allan and a surprise opening act by Joanna Smith rocked concertgoers with a wide variety of country music talent.

Rousing vocals in “Getting Married” and “The Only Thing Missing is You,” warmed up the crowd as Joanna Smith strode onto the stage in a silver tank top and boots. Creative lyrics in her new songs heated up the already hot venue readying folks for proven musician and songwriter Gary Allan.

Clearly a lot of Allan fans packed the bleachers and floor as the crowd swayed to “Nothing On But the Radio.” Shedding his blazer, Allan played on with “Life Ain’t Always Beautiful,” and “Best I Ever Had. ” No one watched anything but Allan as he sang “Watching Airplanes” and a big black and white dog ran onto the stage and around the musicians. Allan walked off the stage with his pet by his side.

A simple white banner bearing “revolution” fell as the stagehands prepared for the Grammy-winning artist. When the curtain lifted Lambert blew onto the stage like a hurricane in her high energy fashion, hair flying, guitar strumming, voice blazing with hits like “Kerosene” and “Only Prettier.”

Lambert moved into ”New Strings,” pointing out that the last time she played the Amphitheater at The Wharf she opened for Kenny Chesney. Young girls with banners saying,“ We Love You Miranda,” and an audience standing and cheering clearly showed she her as the main attraction Saturday night.

In a more personal fashion Lambert shared her joy when she learned her song “Heart Like Mine” hit number one the day she wed country music star Blake Shelton. With tender emotion she sang “Love Song” which she and Shelton co-wrote. Kneeling to touch front row fans she rendered a hurting heart-filled version of “More Like Her.” Fans joined in to sing “White Liar” and “Gun Powder and Lead,” as her talented entourage of musicians kept the air pounding. Standing in her usual understated outfit of boots and denim, Miranda Lambert highlighted the night as she sang her breathtakingly beautiful hit “The House That Built Me.”

With her fourth album,” Four the Record,” due for release in November, spunky Lambert gave fans a sampling of what she said had just been decided as her next single, “Come and Get It.” Fans in the crowd Saturday night showed sure signs they will.
