Miriam Lee Lott Blackburn, 89, a native of Citronelle and a resident of Silverhill, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011.

She worked beside her husband in ministry and in life, serving the God to whom she was devoted. Her focus, always on others, ensured that anyone who knew her was cared for in both personal and special ways. She will surely be missed.

Proverbs 31:28-31 most appropriately expresses the regard in which she was held by her family: “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.’ Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.”

She was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 70 years, the Rev. Harold Blackburn; son, Charles Harold Blackburn; grandson, Zackery Lewis Davis; four sisters, Gladys Byrd, Myrtle E. Lott, Mae Prutilpac and Pauline Cantey; brother, Dennis Lott; and step-brother, J. R. Lott.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Ann (Harold) Clendenin of Robertsdale and Deborah Kay (Floyd) Davis of Poplarville, Miss.; sister, Voncille Robinson of Atwater, Calif.; two brothers, J.C. Lott of Georgetown and Frank Lott of Citronelle; six grandchildren, Janie Lee (Breck) Finley, Dana (Brian) Sullivan, Ashley (Johnny) Reyes, Sandra (Bill) Sawyer, Scott (Charlotte) Odom and Dusty Davis; and great-grandchildren, Owen, Travis, Noah, Olivia and Naomi Finley, Charles Shinn, Joshua (Christina) Blackburn, Austin and Luke Sullivan, Kirsten Blackburn, John, Amberly, Aimee and Allyson Reyes, Tom and Sarah Sawyer, Colby, Bailey and Blakely Odom.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21 at Mack Funeral Home and begins at 9 a.m. with funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22 at the First Baptist Church, Silverhill with Dr. Larry Patterson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Citronelle with the Rev. Justin Lott officiating.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church, Silverhill, P.O. Box 246, Silverhill, AL 36576.
