BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Miscues and mistakes killed a gutsy effort by the Baldwin County Tigers in new head coach Bobby Moore's debut in Bay Minette on Friday.
The Theodore Bobcats picked off BCHS quarterback Nate Jones three times, returning one for a touchdown, and turned a muffed punt by BCHS into a touchdown two plays later to beat the Tigers 21-0.
The two scores came on consecutive plays in the third quarter and all but sealed the win for Theodore, who led 7-0 at the half.
The Tiger defense forced three turnovers, including a Jacob Harrison interception and fumble recoveries from London Gulley and Dalton Overstreet in the loss.
"All the way around I thought our effort was good and our defense played really well," Moore said. "We just had a couple times where we made some boneheaded plays. Overall I was pleased with the effort though."
The Tiger offense was held to three-and-out five times and three drives ended on interceptions.
"Offensively we just couldn't get things going, couldn't make plays," Moore said.
Dylan Busby had two touchdowns for Theodore.
Baldwin County (0-1) plays at Daphne on Sept. 2.
