I.V. Hayles Mitchem, 93, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007.
She was a native of Monroe County, a resident of Stapleton, and attended the Atmore Branch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, William Richard Mitchem.
Survivors include three sons, Willard Richard Mitchem of Loxley, Leonard D. Mitchem of Clanton and Joe E. Mitchem of Birmingham; two daughters, Irene Benham Petty of Stapleton and Willo-Dean Hastings of Bay Minette; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and half-brother, David Mims of Texas.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 10 at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with presiding President Harlan Spencer and conducting O. Richard Benham. Burial followed at Canoe Methodist Church.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, O. Richard Benham, Jason Benham, Ryan Mitchem, Jared Mitchem, Brian Mitchem and John Leonard Mitchem. Honorary pallbearers were Justin Mitchem, Tim Spryka, Wayne Mitchem, Kevin Mitchem, Mark Dawson and Walter McNeil.
Arrangements were made by Petty Funeral Homes LLC, Atmore.
