POINT CLEAR — The 28th Annual celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Day activities in Baldwin County will feature a pair of memorial programs and a Monday morning march through Fairhope.
The two-day festivities will begin with a Sunday night memorial program at Pine-Grove Christian Methodist Episcopal Church at 6 p.m. on Jan. 19. The church is located at 26154 County Road 13, Daphne. The keynote speaker will be the church’s pastor, Rev. Ernestine Fountain of Atmore.
The 28th annual Memorial March will begin Monday morning, Jan. 20 at Stimpson Field end at the Fairhope Civic Center. The marchers will assemble in the Stimpson Field parking lot near the intersection of Young Street and Morphy Avenue. At 10:30 a.m., the assembly of marchers will head west along Morphy Avenue. They will turn right on Section Street and head north to the Civic Center, located at 161 North Section St.
Following the march of less than a mile, there will be a memorial program at the civic center. Renee Daniels, Senior Counselor for Foley Senior High School, will be the keynote speaker.
The theme for 2014 Baldwin County, Alabama Celebration is “Where are we now?” The Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day event is rotated yearly between Daphne, Bay Minette, Foley and Fairhope.

Pastor Ernestine Fountain has been in ministry for 30 years, beginning as, a minister, evangelist and now an elder. She grew up in the Mennonite faith. She was born in the little farming community of Atmore and graduated from Escambia County High School in 1969. Fountain retired from Monsanto/Solutia after 35 years of service.
She is attending Florida Apostolic Bible Institute, where she is working towards a Masters degree in Theology.
Renee R. Daniels is a 1974 graduate of Foley High School. After high school, she enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. She spent two years at Faulkner State Junior College, then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from Alabama A & M University in 1978.
After working for 15 years in retail management for Winn Dixie, Inc., Daniels renewed her teaching certification in special education from the University of South Alabama. She began her career in education in 1994 as a business education teacher at Foley High School. Before earning her degree in school counseling from the University of South Alabama, Daniels also earned a Master of Science degree in Business and Technology Education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1999. Daniels has been a professional school counselor in the Baldwin County Public School System since 2002.
She has been married to Gregory Daniels for 28 years and is an active member of Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church in Summerdale.
