Bay Minette, Ala. A Mobile man was arrested in Fairhope Wednesday near County roads 181 and 48 and charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, according to Sheriff’s Maj. Anthony Lowery.
Frank David Smith, 41, of University Boulevard was arrested during a joint operation by the Baldwin County Drug Task Force and the Mobile County Narcotics Unit.
Smith was apprehended about 9:50 p.m. Lowery said Smith was in possession of approximately seven grams of methamphetamine. He also was charged with first-degree unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance.
Smith was also in possession of components of a meth lab and a 9mm handgun, Lowery said.
Smith is currently on bond involving drug charges in Gulf Shores. He remains jailed at Baldwin County Corrections Center.
The case will be presented to a federal grand jury. Several more arrests are expected in the ongoing investigation, Lowery said.
