Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra announced its membership for the 2007-2008 season.

The 48 musicians of the orchestra were selected by audition and represent schools throughout Mobile and Baldwin counties.

Maren Cross and Valerie Mattern, clarinet players; Kristin Percy, flutist; and Brian Dunbar, percussionist, all from Daphne, are among those musicians.

Under the direction of veteran conductor and music educator Orland Thomas, the orchestra opened the season with a workshop on Aug. 25 and 26 at Camp Beckwith in Baldwin County.

They will rehearse every week, coached by Mobile Symphony musicians Enen Yu, violin; Guo Sheng Huang, low strings; Evie Watkins, woodwinds; Peter Wood, brass; and Tim Beattie, percussion.
