FOLEY, Ala. — There is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy this weekend in downtown Foley.
The weekend kicks off with Third Friday Art Walk, during which numerous downtown shops and boutiques open their doors from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the monthly art walk and wine tasting.
Saturday and Sunday, the sounds of train whistles will fill Foley’s downtown as the Foley Alabama Model Train Show rolls into town.
The second annual Foley Model Train Show will take place Saturday and Sunday at the Foley Civic Center. The show is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The Foley Civic Center is located at 407 E. Laurel Ave. in Foley.
The Model Train Show offers visitors a chance to see displays with trains in a number of different sizes, or scales, as train enthusiasts call them.
Vendors will also be on hand selling trains, tracks, layouts and other accessories.
The nearby Depot Museum, which boasts an impressive model train exhibit, will be open to visitors during the same hours as the Model Train Show.
The Foley Alabama Model Train Show is sponsored by the Foley Caboose Club and the South West Alabama Railroad Modelers.
At noon Saturday, the 7th annual BBQ & Blues Cookoff will start once again in Foley’s Heritage Park.
The centerpiece of the event, which is organized by the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, is always the grilled concoctions from the various BBQ teams.
Funds raised during the BBQ & Blues Cookoff support the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation.
Along with the first class grilling, audience members can enjoy live blues music, a silent auction, arts and crafts and various children’s activities.
Not to be out done, the Easter bunny will make an appearance later Saturday afternoon during the Easter Egg Observe and Explore Day at Graham Creek Nature Preserve.
Graham Creek Nature Preserve is located at 23460 Wolf Bay Dr., west of downtown Foley.
Children are invited to bring their Easter baskets to gather eggs the Easter Bunny himself will be hiding.
There will also be story time in the Nature Explore Classroom and a fun arts and crafts project before the Easter Egg hunt begins.
