GULF SHORES, Ala. — A Gulf Shores mother was arrested Sunday morning after Gulf Shores police responded to a call of a child left in a vehicle.
Larissa Nichole Dorough, 31, was arrested Nov. 23 when responding officers found a 3-year-old male child strapped in his car seat inside a vehicle that had its door open, a news release said.
Police found Dorough, the child’s mother, inside her residence on Chelsi Lane with a 2-year-old child.
Investigator Tim Knight said it was unclear as to whom the 2-year-old child belonged to.
According to a news release, upon further investigation, Dorough was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, and it appeared the 3-year-old child had been left in the vehicle overnight.
Dorough was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
The children were turned over to the Department of Human Resources Child Welfare Division.
Knight declined to comment any further on the case due to the ongoing investigation.
