Hazel Marshall Moravec, 94, a long time resident of Spanish Fort, the last three years at Westminster Village, died Dec. 15, 2007.

She was born in Loxley in 1913 during a Hurricane. She was an accomplished artist, master needle worker, writer and teacher. She taught in the Robertsdale public school and was a devoted Sunday School teacher at her Baptist Church. She recently completed and published her first book, “Beautiful Baldwin County - Yesterday and Today.” She married Edward Moravec from Silverhill in 1934. They had three children, Delores, Edward Jr., and George. The work of Edward Sr. for the U.S. Government took them to Chicago, Washington D.C. and Denver. During this time she was able to take classes and explore her many interests and talents.

Survivors include a daughter, Delores (Richard) Dickinson of La Crescenta, Calif.; son George (Sandra) Moravec of Estes Park, Colo.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 18 at Faith Family Fellowship Church in Spanish Fort. Burial followed at Loxley Greenwood Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphona Society 100 Chase Park South, Suite 220, Birmingham, AL 35244.
