BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Bay Minette police and the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office are reviewing evidence in a shooting March 16 near Hickory and Moran streets that left three with gunshot wounds.

Bay Minette police Capt. Clarence Crook said the shooting was a result of an altercation the week before at a Daphne night spot.

“There was a big crowd from both groups in the street and then shots were fired,” Crook said.

Two males were shot and treated for non-life threatening injuries at North Baldwin Infirmary. A female was shot in the thigh and transported by helicopter to the University of South Alabama Medical Center.

Authorities took three suspects into custody and recovered a gun and drugs from a home at 304 Hickory St., Crook said.

Charles Dion McDowell, 23, of North Beach Street, Pensacola, was charged with attempted murder. Crook said he returned fire but did not hit anyone.

Marcus Darnell Butler, 23, of Hurricane Road, was arrested for violating bond stipulations involving an unrelated Tensaw shooting and a current warrant involving domestic violence charges. Crook said additional charges are pending.

Carlos Cintreal Wallace, 25, of U.S. 31 North, allegedly shot three victims and is charged with three counts of attempted murder, Crook said.
