James Morgan Jr., born Jan. 2, 1919, died Aug. 2, 2007.

He graduated from Murphy High School, Mobile in 1936; attended Auburn University from 1938 to 1940; trained as a naval aviator serving from 1941 to 1946.

He was a flight instructor in the states, and was an air transport commander in Australia, New Guinea, South Pacific and the Philippines.

He returned to Auburn University and graduated in 1947 with a B.S. degree in aeronautical sdministration. He served in the Organized Naval Reserve from 1949 to 1963, retiring as a lieutenant commander. He received the Air Medal, and the Naval Reserve Medal.

He joined Waterman Airlines in Mobile in 1947; transferred to TACA/International Airlines, S.A. when Waterman acquired interest and served in several administrative positions in TACA from 1947 to 1963.

In 1974 he organized and operated Safari World Adventure Travels, a hunting and fishing tour service with tour operations in Mexico and Latin America and retired in 1996.

Survivors include two daughters, Millicent Morgan (Stan) McAfoos of Illinois, and Bronwyn McGowan of California; son, James Morgan III of Florida; six grandchildren and their spouses; and eight great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 25.
