Gertrude Marguerite Mueller Morton, 90, born July 17, 1917 in New York, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007.
Her parents, Gustav H. and Frances Jokish Mueller were early Baldwin County settlers who moved to Elberta shortly after she was born.
She grew up in Elberta and worked at Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Eglin Air Force Base and Barin Field during World War II.
Afterward, she and her husband opened Elberta Motor Service, which later evolved into a farm implement dealership. She was an active member of St. Marks Lutheran Church, the Baldwin County Heritage Museum, the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and the local homemaker’s club until her health failed a few years before her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Roy Rm Morton.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Ramon) Price of Fairhope and Leilia (Charlie) Vannoy of Seminole; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Price, Troy(Bellamie) Price, and Kristi Price (James) Bailey; seven great-grandchildren, Hayden and Leila Price, Olivia and Marilyn Price, Audrey, Camille and Emory Bailey; two step-grandchildren, Gregory Vannoy and Todd (Ashley) Vannoy; and two step-great-grandchildren, Danielle and Tristan Vannoy.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 23 at St. Marks Lutheran Church with the Rev. Keith Ringers officiating. Burial followed at Elberta Community Cemetery.
