Jennifer Lynn Mosley of Pelham and Gregory Thomas Quist of Chelsea were united in marriage April 26, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Bay Minette. Dr. Henry H. Cox officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry K. Mosley of Bay Minette. She is the granddaughter of Lt. Col. (retired) and Mrs. Joseph C. Somers of Montgomery, Nokey P. Mosley of Albertville and the late Harmon Mosley.
The bridegroom is the son of Janice Quist of Byron Center, Mich., and Thomas Quist of Grand Rapids, Mich. He is the grandson of Georgene Hecht of Byron Center, Mich., and the late Donald Hecht and Mr. and Mrs. George Quist.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Emily Lindsey Kane of Robertsdale served as matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Somer Johnson of Montgomery and Melissa Kienzle, cousins of the bride, of California, Lisa Quist, sister of the bridegroom, of Michigan; Katy Harper of Illinois and Spring Rush of Hoover.
The bridesmaids wore black taffeta dresses.
Bouquets consisted of coral tulips in honor of the bridegroom’s Dutch heritage. Tulips and the bride’s handkerchief were also hidden in the bride’s bouquet. This handkerchief was given to her on the day she was born in the form of a hat and will be returned to hat form so that their children may wear it. The bride’s garter was hand-sewn by her mother from heirloom lace used to make her childhood dresses and has the names of the bride and groom, along with the date of their wedding, embroidered in blue.
Flower girls were Anna Beth Hicks, cousin of the bride, of Wetumpka; Olivia Madison of Daphne and Ellie Powell of Bay Minette. Each wore the bride’s childhood heirloom dresses which were sewn by her mother.
The ring bearer was Ryan Gann, cousin of the bride, of Albertville. Ryan’s father was ring bearer in the bride’s parents wedding in 1970.
Todd Bice of South Carolina served as best man. Groomsmen were Thomas Quist, father of the bridegroom, of Michigan; Keith Mosley, brother of the bride, of Pelham, Paul Berens of Michigan, Dave Meretta of Massachusetts and Dr. John Schmidt of Michigan.
Ushers were Brian Baker of Chelsea, John Brown of Gadsden and Chris Thomaston of Pelham.
Patrick Flynn of Birmingham was the reader. Instrumental music was provided by The Mitchell Sims Quartet. Special music was performed by an ensemble consisting of Auburn University Singers and conducted by Dr. Thomas Smith.
During her college years, the bride was a member of the Singers and several graciously agreed to sing at her wedding. Soloists were Julie Veal, Mike Shaw and Meggan Stolarski. The ceremony was opened by the bride singing a cappella from the balcony, “Surely the Presence.”
A reception followed at the John F. Rhodes Civic Center. After leaving the reception in a vintage 1928 Ford Model A, the couple left for a honeymoon trip to Negril, Jamaica.
The couple will reside in Pelham.
