An outreach of her ministry is called “Right Here! Right Now!” This ministry supplies shoes, uniforms or supplies to students in need.

“The program is really making a big thrust the past few years,” Fisher says. “I’ll go to a counselor at school and find out if anyone needs shoes or uniforms — especially shoes. I’ve gotten items from different sources in the past, but I decided my ministry was going to bless the children who could never have new things.”

Every student Fisher’s ministry gives to receives new clothes, shoes, supplies or what they may be in need of.

“Last year we gave 38 pairs of shoes to Foley Middle School,” Fisher says. “This year, we want our trust to broaden and reach more students.”

Fisher’s goal is to help students feel better about themselves. When they feel better, they are likely to study harder and work harder in school.

“I believe if we’re going to do something, we need to do it to the best,” she says. “Take it to the next level — that’s what we’re about. If they don’t have good shoes, they don’t have anything else good either. When these students have good shoes and socks on their feet and look good, they stand taller.”

Fisher has been a substitute teacher in Baldwin County for 25 years and has nine grandchildren.

“I have a heart for these children,” she says. “I’ve seen students that don’t have what they need. It’s a passion I have to help.”

Fisher’s ministry doesn’t stop at shoes and uniforms either. She makes bags of toiletries for boys and girls to keep in the counselor’s office and collects coats in the winter for students. The ministry even helps with certain mandatory fees and supplies.

“I know a lot of places have qualifications for their programs,” Fisher says. “We’re about seeing the need. We’re not going to make students qualify. I don’t have to know their name, their address or their parent’s names. I want to give unreservedly — no qualifications, no signing — that’s not what we’re about.”

Fisher is about local groups helping local schools as well.

“Churches and groups around here can help the schools around here,” she says. “We need to reach out to people that live around us. As a motivational speaker, I encourage kids to stay in school,” Fisher says. “I will do anything I can to help them want to be there.”
