SUMMERDALE, Ala. — A 79-year-old Summerdale man was killed Monday morning when the 2005 Honda motorcycle he was riding collided with a Sport Utility Vehicle three miles west of Foley on U.S. Highway 98.
The fatality was identified as William Joseph Bailey. While the crash is under investigation by Alabama State Troopers, Cpl. Joe Pigott of the Trooper office in Mobile said Tuesday that it is his understanding that the motorcycle ran into the back of the 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was driven by Lana Dawn Mummah, 39, of Foley.
Mummah and two juveniles riding with her were uninjured. Bailey was wearing a helmet at the time the crash occurred. A witness at the accident scene described Bailey’s motorcycle as three-wheeled, what is popularly known as a “trike.” Pigott said he couldn’t confirm that.
