FOLEY, Ala. — Officials had not made a positive identification Tuesday morning of a man killed in a motorcycle wreck at Baldwin County Road 65 North and County Road 12 on Monday at approximately 10 p.m.
According to a news release issued by the Alabama Department of Public Safety in Mobile on Tuesday, State Troopers had originally responded to the site thinking a pedestrian had been struck and killed. Upon arrival, Troopers determined it was a single motorcycle wreck.
Troopers believe the driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash and traveling “well over the posted speed limit” when the motorcycle, a 2001 Harley Davidson with a Tennessee license plate, left the roadway, the release said.
The driver, who was thrown from the motorcycle, is described as a white male approximately 30-years-old. The motorcycle, which came to rest in the roadway, was approximately 150 feet from the driver.
The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences was expected to make a positive identication of the driver sometime on Tuesday, according to the release.
