SUMMERDALE, Ala. — Motorists escaped injuries in a pair of wrecks this week at the intersection of County Road 32 and the Baldwin Beach Express in Summerdale.
On Monday, a pair of vehicles collided when a truck pulling a trailer traveling east on County Road 32 pulled out in front of a car traveling south on the Beach Express.
“The driver of the vehicle said he was distracted by a truck who was stopped in the westbound lane at the intersection and didn’t see the car traveling south,” said Cpl. Vince Miller with the Summerdale Police Department.
The truck traveling east pulled out into the intersection, failing to yield to the car traveling south, Miller said, resulting in the car traveling south striking the truck’s trailer, which was being pulled by the vehicle.
Then on Wednesday, a pair of vehicles, one traveling on County Road 32 and another traveling south bound on the Beach Express, struck a parked vehicle at the intersection on County Road 32 while trying to avoid an accident.
Again, Miller said, the vehicle traveling east on County Road 32 failed to yield to the vehicle traveling south on the Beach Express, resulting in the accident.
The area has been an issue of ongoing concern with several crashes at the intersection since the opening of the Baldwin Beach Express earlier this year.
