Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Nelson Moseley, 97, died on April 23, 2015 at Gulf Coast Rehabilitation Center in Mobile.
She was born in Mobile, Ala., April 4, 1918, daughter of the late Raymond and Rachel Nelson.
Dorothy grew up in Barnwell and graduated from Fairhope High School. She trained in secretarial skills and worked at Brookley Air Force Base during World War II. Near the end of WWII, she married Arvle A. Moseley, a staff sergeant in the Air Force.
She was a longtime resident of Robertsdale, where she was a member of First Baptist Church and taught many children in Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.
As loving mother to Melanie, Marian and Jane, she filled her days with cooking, sewing and gardening, always with artistry and refinement.
During retirement, she and Arvle traveled and enjoyed time at their Gulf Shores beach cottage. They later moved to Homestead Village in Fairhope, where they continued to enjoy time with family and friends. In her final days with us, she gave us her last life lesson, “And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
Dorothy and Arvle were married for 57 years before Arvle’s death in 2002.
They are survived by three daughters, Melanie Moseley Roberson and husband, Bob, of Andalusia, Ala., Marian Moseley Tyson and husband, Martin, of Durham, N.C. and Jane Moseley Grayson and husband, David, of Spanish Fort, Ala.; three sisters, Mildred Barnhill and her husband, Maston, of Loxley, Lorraine Benton of Foley, Mary Kelley and her husband, Lamar, of Barnwell; one brother, Peter Nelson and wife, Carol, of Point Clear; grandchildren, Alan Roberson, John Roberson and wife, Amanda, Julie Roberson Rowell and husband, Charlie, Katherine Tyson, Andrew Tyson, Ashley Grayson Brown and David Grayson Jr.; great grandchildren, Grayson and Lucy Brown, Claire and Blake Roberson, and Anna Rowell; grand-dog, Willie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
