Mrs. Virginia Corine Wilson Harris, a resident of Wetumpka, Alabama, passed away on Aug. 21, 2016 at the age of 75.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Perry Wayne Harris; children, Tonya Simonton (Jim) of Wetumpka and Shawn Harris (Shannon) of Littleton, Colorado; grandchildren, Aaron Simonton, Clay Simonton, Rachel Harris and Matthew Harris; sisters, Irene Melton, Marjorie Blair, Bobbie Jean Byrd; brothers, Henry Wilson, Clyde Wilson and Jerrel Wilson.
Mrs. Harris was born on April 3, 1941 in Stapleton, Alabama to Luke and Leila Wilson. She graduated from Baldwin County High School in 1960.
She married Wayne on August 8, 1964 after meeting him on the Stapleton Baptist Church steps on July 16, 1961. She and her family moved many times during Wayne's military career. She was very proud of her husband and her role as a military wife.
After retirement the family returned to south Alabama where she embarked on several business ventures, including a Christmas tree farm.
They retired to Wetumpka Alabama and lived there for 26 years where she and Wayne spoiled grandchildren and successfully showed long-haired dachshunds.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery, 34904 Alabama Hwy. 225, Spanish Fort, Alabama.
