FOLEY, Alabama — The Ms. Senior Baldwin County Cameo Club met on Dec. 1, at the Foley Senior Center to continue planning for the MSBC 2012 pageant.

The new Ms. Senior Baldwin County will be crowned at the Foley Civic Center on Jan. 22, 2012. Local pageants are the first step in choosing not only Ms. Senior Alabama, but also Ms. Senior America for 2012. The contest is open to all ladies, age 60 or above, who have been full-time residents of Baldwin County for at least 6 months.

The contestants will compete in an interview with a panel of judges, who will also score their talent presentation, poise in modeling an evening gown and philosophy of life. Contestants’ workshops and rehearsals will begin in late December.

Funded only by sponsorships and donations, the program honors ladies who have reached the “Age of Elegance,” 60 and above. The local program subscribes to the state and national pageants’ philosophy that seniors are the foundation of America and our most valuable treasure, whose knowledge, experience and resources offer the younger generation the opportunity to build a better society.

During each MSBC’s reign, she is offered the opportunity to perform, speak and represent Baldwin County’s senior population to churches, civic groups and others. The Cameo Club, consisting of former MSBC contestants, also performs at many venues during the year. All bookings for programs or entertainment through the organization are offered free of charge throughout Baldwin County.
