GULF SHORES, Ala. – Both Gulf Shores and Orange Beach have announced its municipal elections have been rescheduled for Tuesday.
According to officials in both cities each has received approval from the Department of Justice for the rescheduled date due to Hurricane Isaac.
Polls will open on Election Day at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. The Activity Center, located at 260 Clubhouse Drive, serves as the polling location for all voters in Gulf Shores. In Orange Beach, the Orange Beach Community Center on Canal Road is the only polling place.
Only two seats in Gulf Shores are contested. In Place 1 incumbent Joe Garris is facing Ron Kutter and Lynn Byrd. In Place 3, incumbent Phillip Harris faces Chip Wisdom.
Councilwoman Carolyn Doughty, Councilman Jason Dyken, Councilman Steve Jones and Mayor Robert Craft were unopposed.
In Orange Beach, four places are being contested. In Place 1 Ed Bradley faces Iris Ethridge. Incumbent Ed Carroll chose not to seek reelection.
The Place 2 contest has incumbent Brett Holk facing challengers Jeff Boyd and Ty Fleming Sr. In Place 3, incumbent Pattisue Simpson faces Jerry Johnson.
Incumbent Joni Blalock in Place 4 faces challenger Kris Jones.
Place 5 Councilman Jeff Silvers and Mayor Tony Kennon faced no opposition.
