More than 198 mutts registered for the 2009 Mystic Mutts of Revelry Parade. The Feb. 14 event even had one registered cat.

When the 3:30 p.m. parade kicked off, over 200 mutts strolled the downtown streets of Fairhope with 400 human companions.

The fundraising event for The Haven netted the nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter and adoption center, $7,000 this year. These funds come from parade registration fees and bidding for the right to be part of the Mystic Mutt Royal Court.

The winning bidders and ‘09 court members are as follows:

• King Banjo Mann King is a 7-year-old Australian shepherd. He is the companion of David and Melissa Dortch of Auburn, Ala. Banjo was abandoned on a farm prior to being adopted by the Dortches.

• Queen Nymphadora Tonks is a 2-year-old Rottweiler. She also is the companion of the Dortches. Tonks was adopted from Adopt-a-Rottweiler Rescue.

• Grand Duchess Bella Barker is a 4-year-old terrier mix. She is the companion of Carrie Dortch, of Fairhope. Bella was rescued from the Baldwin County Animal Shelter, and was the 2008 MMOR Queen.

• Prince Odju Oernout Savell is a 1 1/2-year-old Yorkshire terrier. He is the companion of René Savell of Mobile. Savell has cared for Odju since he was only two weeks old because his mother had milk fever. Odju was born on the 4th of July.

• Princess Lola Lafitte Pate is a 4-year-old West Highland terrier. She is the companion of Julie and John Pate of Fairhope. Lola was born in Birmingham, Ala., and this was her third year to walk in the Mystic Mutts of Revelry Parade.
