Joseph Muttia Mwanzia, born Jan. 23, 1978 in Nairobi, Kenya, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2010 in Chickasaw.
He was a student at Bishop State Community College.
Survivors include father, Julius Mwanzia Muttia; mother, Phebe Muttia; sister, Patricia Mwikali; brother, Jonathan Mutua; five uncles, Daniel Muttia, Japheth Muttia, Japheth Muthangya, Alijah Muthangya, Mwaniki Muthangya; two aunts, Mbete Muttia, Suzanne Litu Muttia, all of Nairobi, Kenya.
Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 14 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Arrangements are being made to transfer him to his home in Nairobi, Kenya. The body will remain at Lee Funeral Home, after which he will be laid to rest on Saturday, Jan. 23 at his parents home in Mwingi District, Kenya, East Africa.
The family requests donations be made to assist with the cost of preparation and transportation back to Kenya.
